Appointment of Vice-Chancellor
Strawberry Hill, Twickenham, London
St Mary’s is the UK’s largest and oldest Catholic Higher Education institution. We are one of the newest universities in the country having been awarded full University status in 2014. We pride ourselves on being a modern, forward-thinking institution rooted in our Catholic identity and ethos; we value inclusivity and are home to over 6,000 students and 600 staff from all faiths and none, and from a wide range of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
The University has risen through the rankings over the past five years, most recently reaching 77th place in The Times and The Guardian league tables. Our Institute of Education was again awarded ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED for its Initial Teacher Education provision. We achieved Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and are aiming for Gold by 2025.
St Mary’s is looking to strengthen and broaden its research impact and is in the final stages of completing its application for Research Degree Awarding Powers. To succeed in this role, you will need to be a practising Catholic with a proven record of executive leadership and senior management experience. While not necessarily from the academic world yourself, you must have a passion for education and the academic qualifications and intellectual ability to ensure your credibility within a challenging academic environment. A strong communicator and inspirational leader, you will have the ability to
manage change successfully within a collaborative environment. Above all, you will be committed to the mission of the University and its core values.
